Become a HUD Stats Master

Start by building a HUD habit:

Every time somebody makes a play, or when you’re considering a play, use their related HUD stat against them.

They fold a lot… steal. If they call a lot… value bet. They attack a lot… let them attack and fight back at the right time.

If you focus on doing this with every hand you play and study for the next week, you’ll be on your way to becoming an unstoppable HUD Master.

Example: QJs in SB

Hero considers open-raising, he looks at Villain’s:

  1. BB Fold vs SB Steal = 29%, doesn’t like to fold
  2. Preflop Call = 21%, calls wide
  3. BB Calling = 38%, very wide
  4. 3bet is 5%, honest
  5. 3bet vs SB Open 29%, possible bluffer

Flop comes Q4T and Hero considers a value cbet. Key post-flop stats:

  1. Fold v Flop Cbet = 15%, doesn’t like to fold
  2. Fold v Flop Cbet IP = 0% (0/2), expect a call
  3. Raise v Flop Cbet IP = 50% (1/2), maybe/not

Hero cbet and Villain folds. “Never frown when you take it down.”

In this one hand, Hero practiced HUD use 8 times!!!

Example: 98s on BTN

2 limpers from EP and Hero considers iso-raising:

1st limper’s stats:

  1. Limp 31%
  2. Limp/Call 71%… expect him to call
  3. Fold v Flop Cbet 67%… love players who call pre and give up quickly.

2nd limper’s stats:

  1. Limp 5%
  2. Limp/Fold 67%, but w/ other limper, expect him to call.
  3. Fold v F Cbet 43%, but…
  4. Fold v T Cbet 60% – turn honest, planning for a double-barrel bluff.

Hero’s plan is to double-barrel bluff if they both call. He iso-raises to 5bb and both limpers call.

Flop KQ3 all clubs, Hero has 98 of diamonds.

They check, Hero cbet bluffs, they both fold. Didn’t have to follow through with our double-barrel plan.

Hero’s used their HUD stats 7 times… habit building, baby.

Using their HUD stats like this to plan and make plays, gives you so much more confidence and leads to higher win rates.

Example: 64s in CO

Hero folds, the BTN limps and the SB iso-raises:

Hero’s still watching the action and looking at stats to make reads and noodle on plays:

  1. RFI 19%
  2. Iso-raise 100% in SB (1/1)
  3. Iso-raise total 47%, he likes to isolate the limpers
  4. Cbet Flop 64%, expect a bluff
  5. Cbet Flop OOP 63%, too.

No stats on the limper, but IP limp, he’s going to call to see the flop.

Flop J9Tss, the iso-raiser checks! He normally bets, so his check is weakness.

The limper checks back, but then fires the turn after the iso-raiser checks again and folds vs the limper’s bet.

Even when not involved, we watched the action and practiced our HUD use 5 times.

Do this with every hand you study, too. This will help you spot your mistakes, plug leaks and build your exploiting skills.
