If You Have These 3 Advantages… NEVER Fold

If you want to win more poker hands, stop playing on an even field with everyone else… and start playing with the advantages available to you.

In fact, 3 advantages: Position, Range, and Skill.

When you have all three, you’re unstoppable. When you have two, you’re dangerous. And with just one, you can still profit. Let me show you exactly how to use them… ganbatte!

Don’t just know the 3 Advantages… use them.

1) Position

The one who acts last post-flop has the advantage.

More time to think and use HUD stats while they think.

See what they do before you act.

They checked… Choose to bet or check-back for a free card.

Gain a read on their bet size… Choose to fold, call or raise ‘em.

Use Position: Play for post-flop position and use it against them.

2) Range

The preflop raiser has the strongest hands in their range, while the caller doesn’t.

They must contend with your possible overpairs and TPTK.

Your strong range gets even stronger on dry boards. Use this to win more pots with aggression.

Fearful players see “monsters under the bed” when you continue firing post-flop.

Use Range: Use your stronger range with aggression to win more pots when they don’t connect.

3) Skill

Target weak players who make more mistakes.

Weak players: small bets = weak, big bets = strength.

Draw completes on the turn and they bet? They got it.

Target their honest street for easier steals.

Use Skill: Play as many pots as profitable versus the weak, and use your skill edge against them.

Use a 3 Advantages Tick Sheet with 4 columns:

When you see a flop, make a tick mark under the number of advantages you have.

Goal: Get into as many 3 Advantages spots as possible.

Example Hands

See me review these 4 hands at this point in the video: https://youtu.be/ZX8TEG5RJPY?si=28VfszbZalczP6jG&t=188

3 Advantages:

Position (on the button), Range (preflop 3bettor), and Skill (playing 45% of hands is hard to make profitable, likely less skilled).

I use the 3 advantages to value bet flop and turn vs his potential draws, and also to “buy showdown” in case I don’t like the river card.

2 Advantages:

Position (on the button) and Skill (he’s VPIPing 80% with a short stack, likely less skilled).

I use the 2 advantages to value raise flop and turn vs his small blocking bets. I won’t allow him to set his own price to see the next street.

1 Advantage:

Position as the caller with 98s. I might be more skilled, but he’s a TAG 16/14 like me according to the Smart HUD.

I use my positional advantage along with the board to bluff with equity on the flop and turn, then to value bet river.

0 Advantages:

You can’t see my hand in the pic above, but I defended my BB with 86s. The flop was no help at all. He’s rather unknown, so I may or may not have a skill advantage.

So with ZERO advantages and versus his large bet, this was an easy fold.

Use the 3 Advantages

If you see your chance to play a hand with all 3… DO IT!

Only 2? DO IT!

1 or 0? Probably just fold. The 3 Advantages will come around again soon.
